Bio:Michael Wilkerson a Denver Colorado native who grew up in the Park Hill neighborhood,  has over three decades of musical performance experience.His loving parents Barbara and Otis bought Michael his first saxophone at a very young age, and thus; Michael became inspired by listening to his oldest brother Bill,who played the bass guitar professionally.during that time, other musical influences came from innovative and daring musicians like Charlie ''Bird'' Parker,John Coltrane, and Maceo Parker . Michael continued his love of playing the saxophone through both junior high and High school.Michael went on to  attend college at the University of Langston, in Langston Oklahoma,where he promptly enrolled in the music education program , and thus joined the jazz band. The band,then called"The L.U. Jazz Machine", traveled all over the U.S. igniting crowds with their energy.They opened for such artist as Clarke Terry & Diane Reeves, The SOS Band, The Bar-Kays,and Al Hudson & One Way. The L.U. Jazz Machine also had the opportunity to perform in Chicago, at one of Jessie Jackson's Rainbow Push Coalition functions.These days Michael's inspiration comes from  such artist as Kim Waters,Walter Beasley,Gerald Albright and Marion Meadows.Michael has had the opportunity to share the stage and hone his skills with some of Denver's top artists such as nationally known blues man, Sammy Mayfield among many others.Nationally and professionally, Michael has also shared the stage with,opened for or headlined with artist such as,  the late  soulster Howard Bomar,R&B group Surface, smooth jazz group Dotsero, Smooth Jazz singer Aysha,and saxophonist Donald Harrison. The year 2011 had Michael opening for smooth jazz saxophonist Marion Meadows www.marionmeadows.com  at the Soiled Dove Underground, which has recently been voted one of the best  jazz venues in the U.S. from  2006-2015. Michael has been blessed with the gift of being multi-talented,he plays the EWI(electronic wind instrument), Flute,Soprano saxophone,Tenor saxophone,and as he calls it the "bread and butter" Keilwerth solid silver/ black nickel  alto saxophone,his friends have dubbed it the "Saxotude with Altotude''.He plays with such power he almost doesn't need a microphone.Michael has recorded with and played in many different  bands all over the U.S. the three decades of Michael's performance career,has included numerous venues in and around Denver including nationaly known venue,Jazz@ Jacks, The Cherry Creek Concert Series, The Keystone and Breckenridge Jazz festivals, The Frisco/Lake Dillon Concert Series, The Colorado Springs Jazz in the Gardens Concert Series,The Taste of Colorado,The Denver Black Arts Festival,The City Park Jazz Series, The Five Points Jazz Festival,The Winter Park Jazz Festival,The Colorado People's Fair,The annual Juneteenth Celebration,The Copper Mountain Jazz Festival,The Granby Street Fair, and Nissi's Live Music Bistro in Lafayette CO. Michael is currently a member of the Colorado band ''Last Chapter'', which is comprised of the regions top musicians who have backed up the likes of: Blue Magic, R&B sensation  group (Surface) RE-Surface, R&B Diva Chante Moore,  and many other  national acts. Michael  has  truly taken his music to a global level,"music is a universal language understood by all."So stay in the loop and and catch Michael  when the circle comes back around.Peace +Love = CHANGE!!!
